Stern personally oversaw the soundtrack to ‘Private Parts,’ enlisting some of his favorite musicians to contribute new songs or hit up others for some of their best-known tracks.

This week it’s the soundtrack to Howard Stern’s landmark biopic and box office smash ‘Private Parts.’ It might be a re-pressing of a landmark recording, special edition or a new collection from a legendary band. Keep an eye on this spot as each week we’ll be looking at new or soon-to-be-released vinyl from a variety of artists. The hardcore fans may have wanted material that was a bit less recycled, but it still manages to be an interesting read across the board. Stern has also included chats with Courtney Love, Sia, Jay Z, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Billy Joel and Ed Sheeran. Elsewhere, he talks with Ozzy Osbourne in a piece that originally aired in 1996, and was one of the few times the Black Sabbath frontman wasn’t accompanied by his manager/wife Sharon, which took some pressure off the subject. It was a revealing end to a longstanding feud, strong enough to open the tome. ‘Howard Stern Comes Again’ opens with the radio host’s infamous 2015 interview with Madonna, having bickered back and forth with one another through various forms of media over the years. Stern has always been unabashed about his love of certain artists and has done his best to get the most out of them when they have sat down on his studio couch. For music fans, there’s many reasons to dig in and learn about some of the biggest names in the industry. Still, for people who aren’t rabid listeners of Stern’s Sirus XM Satellite Radio show, the book provides a window into just what makes him so appealing this far into his career. “On the other hand, it’s a great book if you want to forget about the fact that Stern was, at one point, a very entertaining broadcaster.” It’s just transcripts of interviews that no one cares about,” reads one verified purchase on Amazon. It’s an element that have left some feeling cheated, indicated in many of the reviews on Amazon, one avenue readers have taken to voicing their displeasure. While each interview is preceded by a brief introduction by Stern, the bulk of ‘Howard Stern Comes Again’ is transcripts of discussions that have already happened. Even his most vocal critics begrudgingly admit as much and the new book is a testament to his talent. The main reason for this is it’s within the current millennia that Stern has become recognized as an ace interviewer, one who is right up there with David Frost or, more recently, NPR’s Terry Gross. ‘Howard Stern Comes Again’ is primarily made up of transcriptions of interviews he has conducted with celebrities throughout his career, with the majority of them having taken place in the past several years. Those expecting a retread of schoolboy humor squarely focused on flatulence and sex will be either disappointed or relieved. It’s certainly a visual more befitting a 65-year-old man, but it’s what’s inside that shows the biggest change. First is the obvious, rather than being nearly naked on the cover like on ‘Private Parts’ in 1993 or in drag as he was on ‘Miss America’ in 1995, Stern is shown looking pensive, clad in black with a hand resting on his chin. The title is quite the contrast in a number of ways from the shock jock’s previous literary outings in a number of ways. This week saw the release of the first book by Howard Stern in nearly 25 years, ‘Howard Stern Comes Again,’ and showed time hasn’t dulled his loyal fandom, evident in it skyrocketing to the top of numerous Amazon best-seller lists, including overall books.
